What’s it all about?
You will be the engine behind a team of structural engineers! In this capacity you know how to combine your technical knowhow and management skills in order to combine your team’s strengths to achieve great results. As a Lead Structural Engineer at KCI you will design concept-, basis- and detail designs for fixed offshore structures with the focus on the substructures. These substructures could be jackets; tripods; monopiles; subsea templates and transition pieces for the Offshore Wind Industry and Oil & Gas production facilities.
What will you do as a Lead Engineer Fixed Offshore Structures?
Our Lead Structural Engineer will lead his own team of structural engineers and monitor the progress and planning. You will advise on technical matters in other projects and act in a consultancy role towards our clients. You will perform the necessary design analyses together with the team and studies with accompanying reports independently.
You will also be coaching other engineers and on behalf of KCI you will be monitoring and discussing the progress with project manager and with the client on occasions. Based on your expertise, a leading role is expected in generating concept, basic and detail designs for the primary and secondary steel for various Transformer platforms, Oil & Gas producing platforms or wind turbine foundations such as jackets, gravity base foundations & monopiles. The design of transition pieces (TP) for the various wind turbine foundation types, piling templates or topsides could also be part of the works.

The department where you will be working consists of approx. 30 Structural Designers and Engineers.

What else is required for the job?
KCI the engineers considers it important for this position that you bring the following:
- Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Mechanical/Civil Engineering
- 8+ years’ experience in structural discipline and relevant market
- 3+ years’ experience in this or similar position
- Extensive structural engineering experience: Jackets & Monopiles and topsides for the Offshore Wind and Oil & Gas market
- Analyses or calculations: In-place analysis (ULS, FLS, SLS, ALS) & Pre-service analysis (Load-out, Transport, Lifting)
- Detailed analyses or calculations: Bolted connections, Welded connections, Grout connections, Vortex induced vibrations, Wave slamming.
- Proficient user of SACS and familiar / advanced user of Ansys/Femap/Usfos/Grlweap
- Good knowledge of the applicable norms and standards (DNV/ISO/EC)
- Good knowledge of English and preferably also Dutch (both written and verbal)
- Team player and like to solve problems instead of making them
- Competences: solution driven, adaptability, assertiveness, critical thinking, focus on quality, problem analysis, result-orientation
