Consultant WTG

What’s it all about?
You are the engine behind our WTG Foundations product line! In this capacity you know how to combine your technical knowhow and management skills in order to combine your team’s strengths to achieve great results. In the part of the job as a Consultant you are responsible for positioning, the continuous development and delivery of a competitive engineering solution that contributes to the strategic ambitions within the product line of WTG at KCI by supporting, develop and optimize product/market combinations and ensure that KCI creates and delivers the most economical, competitive, uniform, and high-quality engineering solutions for its customers, including Sif. You analyze the technical and financial feasibility of the projects, you draw up specifications and contracts, you supervise the tendering and selection of suppliers and you monitor quality and safety during implementation.

What will you do as an Consultant?
You will initiate, maintain and grow relations with clients by providing technical consultancy expertise and provide solutions and support to the client. You will provide sales support on current and future opportunities by using your technical knowledge and expertise. You will develop new product/market ranges based on relevant information gathered through market research, customers and suppliers. You will actively coach, advise and provide technical expertise to engineering project teams by participating in the concept, basic and detail design for the primary steel of various WTG Foundations such as monopiles, jackets, gravity base foundations and/or transition pieces for the various wind turbine foundation types and ensure to keep the relevant knowledge developments up to date and define knowledge gaps and share best practices with all stakeholders and the engineering teams. Together with the Head of Product Line, you will initiate, maintain, and grow relations with clients by providing technical consultancy expertise and/or provide solutions to our clients, including Sif.

Where are you going to work?
You will be working at our office in Rotterdam with the flexibility to work 50% of your time from home. Working with KCI means that you will be part of a multicultural team of professionals in an informal and collegiate working atmosphere. To ensure a nice balance between work and fun, various social events and activities are being organized! You will be reporting directly to the Head of Product Line WTG Foundation, and will work intensively with the Structural department, which consists of approx. 30 Structural (Lead) Designers and (Lead) Engineers.

You are capable to keep an overview and have organizational talent. But you also have the (communication) skills to deal well with clients, to advise them and to maintain the relationship. You are able to identify and evaluate bottlenecks in the design, fabrication or installation, and are able to provide solutions and make suggestions for improvement.

What else is required for the job?

  • KCI the engineers considers it important for this position that you bring the following:
  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Mechanical/Civil Engineering
  • 10+ years’ experience in structural discipline and WTG market
  • Significant experience with WTG design, fabrication and installation
  • 5+ years’ experience in this or similar position
  • Excellent knowledge of English and preferably also Dutch (both written and verbal)
  • Team player and like to solve problems instead of making them
  • Competences: adaptability, assertiveness, critical thinking, focus on quality, problem
    analysis, result-orientation
  • Relevant technical experience is an advantage:
    • Structures engineering experience: monopiles, jackets and topsides for the
      Offshore Wind market
    • Analyses or calculations: WTG load iterations, In-place analysis (ULS, FLS,
      SLS, ALS)
    • Detailed analyses or calculations: Bolted connections, Welded connections,
      Grout connections, Vortex induced vibrations.
    • Proficient user of SACS and Ansys and familiar / advanced user of
      Femap/Usfos/Grlweap
    • Knowledge of turbine modelling software like Bladed.
