SWEEP Topside Design
Riser Access Tower

Riser Access Tower (RAT) was designed to allow connection of new small prospects nearby existing assets to existing host platform. The intention of design is to minimize the brownfield modifications. RAT is a stand alone structure that can be fully fabricated, pre-commissioned and installed without any interruption in existing platform operation.

KCI performed the design and developed a standardized low cost solution that can be applied across all the prospects both in UK and Dutch sectors of North Sea. The first RAT was installed successfully in the Dutch sector next to K15-FA-1 platform

LAPS Offshore Compression Concept Phase

Lancelot Area Pipeline System (LAPS) cluster of platforms in UK sector of SNS was identified with opportunity to add a new compression module to facilitate the extension of cessation of production date from depleting wells. This modification would also increase the recoverable reserves by lower the back pressure on the wells.

KCI was awarded the project to identify and appraise several concepts for the offshore compression system and to perform complete pipeline network and various structural assessment. Installation concepts cover adding a RAT, MPP or jacketed structure. A complete flow assurance study was performed on the existing network and possible tie-ins from third parties to advise the best solution
based on technical and economical aspects.

K6CC Platform Booster Compressor

Concept selection and basic engineering for a reciprocating booster compressor on an existing central processing platform.

The inclusion of the booster compressor allowed extended gas recovery from depleting gas wells of K6CC, and the satellite platforms (in sequence: K6C/ K6DN, K6GT and K5F/K6N), thereby greatly increasing  gas recovery.

P15-D Platform LLP Upgrade

Concept selection, basic and detailed engineering and commissioning assistance for the reconfiguration of the P15-D gas processing platform to operate on a new (lower) pressure regime. Existing VRU compressors were realigned as booster compressors after executing modifications, both mechanical and on the overall platform control systems. The reconfiguration allowed low performing wells and satellites to increase the recovery of reserves by lowering the backpressure.

Booster Compressor addition on A/12CPP

Concept selection , FEED and detailed engineering for a booster compressor and associated utilities (cooling system a.o.) which was installed on the A/12 Central Processing Platform (CPP). The booster compressor allowed the platform to keep production levels in face of rapidly decreasing pressures of the seven tied-in gas wells (shallow reservoir), and also boost the pressure of tied-in satellite platforms on the A and B blocks. KCI prepared not only the engineering and procurement packages, but also the initial cost estimates, project planning, HSE studies, installation design, expediting and construction support.

KCI was awarded the development of the marginal Maasveld gas field in 2011. Initially considered to be a simple onshore gas production facility, this project faced a great challenge in meeting the product specification due to presence of heavier gas components. KCI project team successfully turned this challenge into an opportunity.  

Our goal was to supply the gas in accordance with the required
specifications, but at the same time enable LPG products to be separated in a way which is both economic and involves a minimum of risk. Over 20 different processing concepts were identified and evaluated to finally build what is now a unique gas development plant.

KCI’s role in the entire project ranged from the concept, FEED, detailed design, process engineering assistance, integrated control system engineering and procurement, to project management and commercial assistance.
